Lafayette Bicentennial

                Final Weekend

       Washington, DC & Northern VA

Sunday, September 7th

9:15am:  American Friends of Lafayette have been afforded a Public Wreath Laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery.  This is a free event.
  • Lafayette spent a great deal of time at the Woodlawn Plantation in 1824 and 1825 visiting with Eleanor Parke Custis and Lawrence Lewis.  This spectacular Federal style mansion was a place Lafayette felt comfortable in the presence of the Washington family.   The gameplan for that day is...
  • 11:00am: Private (Lafayette themed) tour of the mansion, by Elizabeth Reese.
    • 12:30pm: Lunch
    • 1:30pm: A panel discussion with three Lafayette's!!!  Out of costume, you will listen to (and interact with) the three Lafayette interpreters that did a bulk of our work during the Bicentennial.   Ben Goldman, Michael Halbert and Mark Schneider will all be there discussing the past thirteen months as they followed Lafayette's footsteps (as Lafayette !!).  This should be a fun, educational and very interesting discussion as we have three Lafayette's in one room.
      • General Admission: $20 per adult, $10 per student (K-12)
      • Tickets can be purchased by clicking: HERE
