Bicentennial of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour Visits Woodbridge, New Jersey
September 24, 2024 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The Historical Association of Woodbridge Township and the American Friends of Lafayette welcome Lafayette back to Woodbridge, Tuesday, September 24th, from 12pm to 1pm at the recently dedicated Woodbridge History Museum at 86 Green Street, Woodbridge, NJ.
Parking is available behind the museum.
We will be celebrating and commemorating General Lafayette’s visit to Woodbridge on September 24, 1824 exactly 200 years ago to the day!
We are fortunate to have with us for the ceremony:
Paul Larson, Chair, New Jersey Lafayette Bicentennial Committee, American Friends of Lafayette
Michael Halbert, celebrated Lafayette re-enactor, who will be dressed as the General was in 1824
Paul will give us some welcoming remarks about the American Friends of Lafayette and the Bicentennial of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour, and Lafayette (portrayed by Michael) will talk about his experiences on the Farewell Tour, specifically his visit to Woodbridge.
The AFL’s six panel Lafayette exhibit, which debuted at the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, will also be on display for this event.
