On Sunday, September 26, 1824, Revolutionary War hero, General and Marquis Lafayette worshipped at Trenton’s First Presbyterian Church as part of his tour of the United States.
Two centuries later, as the nation marks the 200th anniversary of Lafayette’s journey, 120 East State, the non-profit transforming First Presbyterian into The Steeple Center, welcomes Lafayette (reenactor Michael Halbert) back to Trenton and First Presbyterian Church and cemetery.
11am- Lafayette will return 200 years later, on the exact day, he was at the First Presbyterian Church of Trenton where he worshipped. He will then tour the cemetery where fallen Hessian troops from the Battle of Trenton are buried, and he'll have a reunion with Hannah Till, the African American cook for Washington who was known to Lafayette as "Aunt Hannah.”
