July 4th Flag Changing Ceremony at Cimetière de Picpus

  • 04 Jul 2021
  • 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
  • zoom webinar

As most of you know, there is an annual changing of the American Flag at Lafayette's grave every year on or around July 4th at Picpus Cemetery.

This very moving ceremony has taken place annually for over 100 years, however, due to the current Covid restrictions in Paris, the event has been canceled, BUT....

The American Friends of Lafayette will be holding a virtual Picpus Ceremony on:

Sunday, July 4th at 10:00am EDT

We have a wonderful cast of AFL members helping us salute Lafayette...

  1. Myriam Waze live from the Château de Lafayette in Chavaniac, France
  2. Benoit Guizard live from Belle-Île, France
  3. Alan Hoffman with his Presidential thoughts
  4. Augie Huber (a Picpus regular) live from Kansas
  5. François Guittard from SAR in France
...and our hope is to have a live feed from Cimetière de Picpus to share with you.

We will present both the American and French National Anthems and share photos from past ceremonies.

We will also share a rare 1917 film by the French army showing the ceremony with General Pershing and Colonel Stanton !!!!

When: July 4, 2021 10:00 AM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
