...invites you to join us in commemorating the 200th Anniversary of General Lafayette’s visit to Georgetown, Kentucky!
Sunday, May 18, 2025, we welcome Lafayette himself as he returns in style! Georgetown and Scott County Museum's opening program begins at 2:00 PM.
● Experience Lafayette’s grand return, portrayed by a renowned reenactor.
● Local dignitaries will welcome him with a proclamation in his honor on the museum steps.
● A special presentation by Chuck Schwam, Executive Director & Bicentennial Committee Chair of The American Friends of Lafayette, will highlight Lafayette’s earlier visit to Georgetown.
● Lafayette himself will then address the audience.
3:30 PM – Outdoor Festivities & Live Music
● Free popcorn for all guests!
● Live music by Kendra Ward and Bob Bence inside the museum.
● Children’s Activities
○ Readings of Revolutionary Friends with a book giveaway.
○ Crafts, including Lafayette Rosettes and paper chains.
○ Bookmobile and games for kids.
The Traveling Exhibit will remain open until 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 18th.
