Support the New Jersey commemoration of Lafayette's Grand Farewell Tour 200 years ago, in 1824, by attending a Garden Party on July 20 at a historic tavern that was visited by French and American officers in 1781. Now privately owned by a Franco-American couple, the Black Horse Tavern near Princeton, NJ boasts a stunning garden on a scenic byway.
Noted Washington reenactor John Koopman will tell of his adopted father-son relationship with the young Marquis de Lafayette. Also in attendance will be Quinton Castle portraying Washington valet William Lee.
Proceeds will help defray the costs of major Princeton and Trenton events on September 25, to be announced at the party.
