LAFAYETTE IN THE

HISTORIC and BEAUTIFUL

HUDSON RIVER VALLEY

Hello Friend of Lafayette,

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the plans to celebrate the 200th anniversary of General Lafayette’s 1824 Farewell Tour of the Hudson Valley in New York State. We hope that you will join us for this incredible journey that will recreate Lafayette’s travel itinerary as he visited throughout upstate New York.

Over the past several months the Hudson Valley AFL Committee members have worked tirelessly to customize an exciting event filled 5-day coach bus tour. This tour is an all-encompassing package that will include 5 nights’ accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner each day - (a total of 13 meals), admission to all activities, and door to door transportation.  As a bonus, September in upstate New York is a magical time to travel through the countryside to enjoy the array of colors and beauty of the Fall Foliage that surrounds you.

Guests will check into the Thayer Hotel on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The Hudson Valley Segment of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour will kick off with a Welcome Breakfast at the Hotel Thayer at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024, and end at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in Fishkill, NY. After a full day of events in Fishkill, guests will return to the Hotel Thayer via Coach Bus to pick up their cars. Stops along the tour route will include Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, Clermont, Albany, Troy, Staatsburg, and Fishkill.

All you have to do is park you car at the Thayer Hotel (for free) on Saturday, September 14th and we will take it from there.  All meals, lodging, transportation  and entry fees are included.  We will drop you off at your car (Thayer Hotel) on Thursday afternoon, September 19th.

At each stop you will enjoy interesting activities that will focus on Lafayette’s travels. You will see firsthand many of the original gifts that Lafayette presented to those who hosted him during his tour, which bolstered his reputation as an exceedingly kind, appreciative and generous individual. In addition, through our special interpretive programming that will feature several engaging guest speakers, you will learn about Lafayette’s legacy and passions that made him one of the leading human rights advocates of his time.

A brochure that highlights each day’s activities can be found: HERE

Due to space constraints , this tour will be limited to 52 participants on a first come, first served basis.  We are currently only opening registration for only Double Occupancy/Rooms which is $2,950.00 for two ($1,475.00 per person).

Register by clicking the green register button at the top of this page.

Driver's license info is required for West Point Tours, which can be included on the registration form.

We hope you will join us and seize this opportunity to celebrate Lafayette while enjoying the spectacular sights, beauty, and delicious aromas that only Autumn in Upstate New York can offer!

Thank you and vive Lafayette !!
